Advantages of Robots in Education

Advantages of Robots in Education

It is undeniable that robots have become part and parcel of everyday human life. They are intelligent and have made humans more productive in their everyday life. Nowadays robots perform tasks that were previously done by humans and are adding a certain degree of perfection to them as well as doing it faster.

This has seen robots become integrated into areas previously believed to be dominated by humans like in the area of education.

The following are some of the advantages of robots in education:

  • Assistive in school attendance
  • School access to special needs students
  • Boost creativity
  • Encourage team-work
  • Improves strength and weakness awareness
  • Prepares one for the future

Assist in school attendance

In a situation where a student might not be able to attend class physically due to one reason or the other, a robot might be sent in his/her place. The student might connect with the robot in class via an internet connection and in this way the student does not miss a class. This will ensure the student does not fall behind the rest of the class and ultimately reduces the percentage and rate at which students are held back from continuing or finishing school.

School access to special needs students

In a case where a student might have special needs or life-threatening medical conditions where he/she cannot interact with the outside and has to remain confined in their rooms or houses, a robot might be sent to attend class in his/her place. The student connects to the robot via the internet and can learn in real-time with the rest of the class. This vastly improves the odds of the said student becoming a contributing member of society in the future.

Boosts creativity

Creating a robot in school improves a student’s creativity and imagination. A student can come up with a concept, research about it, and ultimately transform that concept into life. They can program it to do what they want and in doing this, it brings about a great sense of accomplishment and a  boosts the students morale to want to learn more.

Encourage teamwork

In a society plagued by social, economic, and religious divides, robots in education can help bridge these social divides. This is achieved by bringing together students of like minds regardless of their social, economic, or religious backgrounds. They share, exchange ideas and tackle problems together. This promotes understanding and cohesion.

It also encourages students with different specialized skill sets like programming, sensors, and engineering to work together for a combination of the three is what makes up a robot.

Improves strength and weakness awareness

All human beings are flawed. They all have strengths and weaknesses but not all are aware of either of the two. Through robotics in school, one can become aware of his/her weaknesses and strengths. This will allow the person to put their strengths into good use and improve on their weaknesses.

A student might be good at programming but poor at engineering. Through this program, the student has become aware of this and will strive to improve on his/her engineering skills while continuing to strengthen his/her programming skills.

Prepares one for the future

Students who venture into robotics are already a step ahead of the rest. This is because, in today’s society, many companies revolve around tech and robotics. Many start-ups are specializing in drone technology and other aspects of robotics and are looking to hire competent students to join their ranks. Militaries, intelligence, medical fields all need robotics. This leaves robotic students with several choices to choose from and decide which industry best fits them.

Conclusion

In conclusion, it is evident robots are an integral part of human life and will only become more important. Therefore, it is important to embrace this technology and introduce the young ones to robotics as early as possible for they are the future and the future is robots.
